Evaluation of Correlation between Diabetic Retinopathy and Hearing Impairment in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Objective: Diabetic retinopathy is one of the leading causes blindness that occurs secondary to diabetesmellitus. Besides having serious effects on retina, diabetes has also been found affect hearing sense.The aim our study was identify any correlation impairment with diabetic in patientssuffering from Type 2 mellitus.Study Design: A Retrospective study.Place and Duration Study: The carried out at outpatient Otorhinolaryngology andOphthalmology clinics Mohsin Family Health Clinic, Federal B Area Karachi, Pakistan, July 2016 toJune 2019.Materials Methods: data analysis performed using non-probability purposive sampling.The demographic data, Hearing status were collected analyzed SPSS 20.0 inpatients suffering type mellitus.Results: mean age patients 60.65±7.35 duration 6.76±3.52. Diabeticretinopathy evident 235 (52.2%), 108(24%) patients. Age(p=0.024), (p=<0.001), (p=<0.001) significantly correlatedwith DM patients.Conclusion: correlated diabeticretinopathy Monitoring auditory function advised vice versa, as timelymanagement condition can prevent further disability.
